RuneScape's member benefits are so obvious that I had to subscribe. Normally I am not a fan of games that block free players from everything. My favourite payment model is a free game with a funds shop tacked on top. This model was made popular by plenty of of those crazy Eastern imports I mentioned earlier and still remains my favourite model. But RuneScape's model is so cheap that it is simpler to spend the $5 to $7 dollars a month to not only gain access to everything the game offers but also build up loyalty points.
I can spend these loyalty points on costumes, special auras, and emotes, and I accrue more points every month. There's lots of other sub advantages as well, such as ad-removal, fullscreen mode, the ability build a house, members-only content, as well as a bigger game world.
I am liking to buy RuneScape cards about every months to fill up my subscription. These cards can sometimes come with a special item, but usually the best advantage is that Jagex will run a special that offers additional experience or other bonuses when using these cards. Despite offering exactly my least favourite type of subscription, RuneScape is so nice and runescape gold is so cheap that there is no query about it in my mind. I will also occasionally pay funds for points to make use of for in-game customization.
