Something Related to Runescape Crafting in Game

12/14/2012

The fire in RuneScape, even how much of the world is crafted or moves, reminds me of this elderly school animation process. There is a actual hand-crafted feel to stop-motion, for obvious reasons. Every time I see a blaze in RuneScape, I feel a familiar sense of childlike wonderment.

The fire animations also remind me of stagecraft fire. If you have ever seen a play or Halloween scarehouse, you know what I am speaking about -- "realistic" fire that is obviously not actual. It feels a bit like seeing stop-motion happening in front of your eyes, like the style you'd find in a game like Realm of the Mad God, is primitive to me. The ideal amount of 8bit is present in Habbo Hotel. The chairs are marvelous to look at. They look as though I can reach in to the screen & pick them up. I imagine they would feel to me like holding a six-sided dice between my finger & thumb.

The game world of Runescape looks plastic & detailed but can still run on a basic netbook. I am liking the fact that all of the gameplay occurs within a immense hotel, that (in my mind) is continuously growing in to the sky as increasingly players join the game. Habbo Hotel screenshotI've only recently dived in to Habbo Hotel, but I am so glad I finally did. The general graphics in the game make me smirk and offer me Runescape Gold,  I cannot think the game is not referenced more in today's bit-obsessed culture. Perhaps it is neglected by the mainstream for the reason I am liking it: It is not that bit.
