This is the content mostly applies to Raids. We know that Runescape has three core roles for raids, Tank, Healer and DPS. But currently, rs contains two of the 3 as a defined role. Raiding should never truly be called unless a true healer role was there. So we are here, suggesting a healer for runescape.
Healers should still be able to use defence and constitution abilities. In the same way a DPS could switch to a shield for a quick resonance or barricade, a healer should also be able to do the same.
The only difference should be that Healers should not be able to tank, as not only should they have little to no offensive abilities with which to hold the attention of the boss. Healers have never been able to do any form of effective tanking.
How would a healer heal? With a whole new set of abilities, accessible only by switching out of the normal abilities. In the same way, you can switch your spellbook between Normal, Ancients and Lunars, and your Prayerbook between Normal Prayers and Ancient Curses. You could perhaps also change your ability book between combat and Healing abilities.
Healers would be redundant when DPS can off-heal. Simply reduce the effectiveness or completely remove the viability of a meleer or a ranger using Heal other or Heal Group. The easiest way to solve this is put a one minute cooldown on casting, very mush like Vengeance currently has.
We should limit the usage of food in Raids in a way that doesn't affect outside of raids. Make food a supplement to healing rather than something that undermines it. Maybe have a debuff that prevents eating food for say, 15 seconds, or a buff that lasts 30 seconds which decreases the potency of food eaten. This would limit the use of food without completely removing it, allowing healers to be a valued asset. The same could be done with Saradomin Brews.
