Double XP Weekends are events players receive twice as much experience most training activities. Double XP Weekends usually run twice a year, in February and September, beginning on a Friday and ending on the following Monday.

Double XP Weekends were preceded by Bonus XP Weekends. During Bonus XP Weekends players received a variable amount of bonus experience that decreased with the duration for which they were logged in. The decaying bonus experience boost was replaced by a constant double experience boost in the October 2012 Double XP Weekend; all subsequent weekends have been Double XP Weekends.

These actions do not provide bonus experience:

    Quest experience rewards
    Any experience earned through the Assist System
    Items/locations that already give bonus experience, including:
        Ancient effigies
        Brawling gloves
        Cremation
        Dragon rider amulet
        Dungeoneering Wildcards
        Dwarven tools
        Ectofuntus
        Experience lamps
        Filled penance horns
        Goldsmithing gloves
        Player-owned house altars
        Sacred Clay items
        Summer Beach Party cocktails
        Tomes of experience
        Urns
    Experience rewards activities including:
        All Fired Up
        Daily Challenges
        Distractions and Diversions
        Handing in strange rocks and golden rocks
        Jade vine
    Anything which allows points to be exchanged for experience, including:
        Brimhaven Agility Arena tickets
        Dungeoneering tokens
        Mrs Winkin's World of Seeds shop Vinesweeper
        Slayer incentives

Ironman Mode players are also disallowed participating.

     Stored bonus experience until November 2014.
    Clan avatar until November 2014.
    Recruit a Friend until February 2014.
    With the exception of the first Bonus Xp Weekend, limited bonus experience was given in Summoning until the first Double XP Weekend in October 2012.
    Demonic skull until 23 September 2016.
